Dendrobium Orchid:

Dendrobium orchid is called a beginners orchid. If you want to try orchids for the first time then dendrobium is an ideal plant. Flowers of the dendrobium plant are an amazing creation. Dendrobium flower not only looks beautiful, It also stays in the plant for at least two months. It will have stems coming out every 3 months and old stems will dry. Each stem will have at least one flower stick. Flower stick at the beginning will have one 7/8 flowers. Number of plants in the plant will increase with the age of plants. Stems will have multiple flower sticks with the maturity of the plant.

Growing Condition:

Dendrobium best grows in the indirect sunlight. Usually it likes bright indirect sunlight but not direct. Balconies where you get sunlight in the morning or evening are the best for the plants. Once you have flowers then you can take plants to the drawing room. We discussed the placing of the plant in detail in the instruction provided in the package.

Potting Material:

Role of potting material in dendrobium orchids is different from normal plants. Here potting material provides the humid condition around the root. Roots love damp surroundings and potting material is supposed to provide that. We provide treated coconut husk to avoid fungus. Repotting is not required immediately. In case you are repotting you can do that in blogger pot. You can add charcoal and brick particles in the potting mix. Orchid root love air. Potting mix should be loosely placed around the roots inside the pot. Ideally roots should come out of the pot after some time. There is nothing wrong with that. In case you cannot chemically treat there is a way to do that at home.

Plant Care

Watering is an important part of gardening. In orchids it becomes even more important. Our target will be to water plants in such a way that by night potting materials become dry. Wet potting material at night will invite fungus. Some people say water alternative day, others say everyday. We will use our judgement while watering the plant. Check husks or potting material near roots by touching them. If potting material is wet that day then do not water that day. In this way naturally we will reduce the frequency of watering during the rainy season and increase in the dry season. There will be many more tricks in the leaflet provided with the plants.

Fertilizer:

In natural condition dendrobium orchid roots and leaves get nitrogen from air. In our home garden we need to provide fertiliser regularly.
